Moving Yourself or hiring N1 man and van hire

The decision between moving techniques can be a tough one. You will likely want to make sure that you are meeting your budget, but at the same time, you will want to be keeping all of your items safe, and not wasting too much time on the process, as like most of us, you will want the move to be over as soon as is humanely possible, in order that you can get on with your life and put all of that stress behind you! There are three levels of removal that you can chose from, from doing things yourself with a hired van, or hiring a man and van service, to getting a removals company involved. Your budget will have great bearing on your choice, but the size of the job is also a major factor. If you are in a position where you have to move a six bedroomed house, but you do not have the money to pay for a removals company, then you are in serious trouble! We’ll look at the options to see whether you should be moving yourself or hiring N1 man and van hire.

So, moving yourself. You will find that a van can be rented quite cheaply for a day from various companies, but insurance can of course knock the price up a little. If your move is a short one, and you do not have that much to move, then this can be perfect. Have a friend or loved on help move larger bits and pieces, and you should be fine. If you are used to driving a van, then this should be an easy job, with little to no problems. However, if you have never driven a van, or are not a particularly confident driver in the first place, then it may be best that you look into the second option of N1 man with van hire.

Man and van hire is a little like renting a van, but it’s that little bit easier, in that you have another person to help with the lifting, and you don’t have to drive, nor pay extra for insurance or petrol. For this reason, a man and van can often be cheaper as well as easier than a rented van, so do some price comparisons before you go for either, to make sure that you are not giving up on any savings that you could be making! When hiring a man and van, you will be offered two payment options, depending on the ways in which each company do things. These can either be payment by the hour, or an overall cost for the job. You will often find that an hourly rate is a lot cheaper than an overall cost, but if you are at all worried about getting stuck in traffic or anything else that may mean that the move takes longer, then the security of knowing what you are paying at the end may well be attractive to you.

A full sized removals company does what it says on the tin. They will load everything into their van, with the help of a team of staff, and drive it to the new destination, then doing the reverse at the other end of the move. This is perfect if your move is that little bit to big to handle with a man and van, and if you can afford it, everything will be a lot easier.
